When are Tree Inspector training workshops offered?
The University of Minnesota hosts annual "New Tree Inspector Training Workshops" in February and May. Occasionally the certification exam will also be given at select Fall Forestry Workshops. The topics of the Fall Forestry Workshops" change annually and vary from the topic areas covered on the Tree Inspector Exam. What is the cost of the "New Training Workshops"?
Training workshops typically cost about $80-$100 per person. Student discounts are available for most U of M training events.
What can I expect during the training?
Training workshops are an all day classroom event. Presenters will cover material on tree pests and pathogens, firewood identification, tree identification, rules and regulations and best practices. Click here for self-training options.
Exams are provided at the end of each training workshop. Once you submit a registration form and your payment, a study packet will be mailed to you with information needed for the examination. Study guides are available online only. No hard copy will be made available.
Occasionally, other events and workshops offer proctored Minnesota Tree Inspector Exam. All workshops offering this service, will be posted on the "Events & Workshops" page as information is made available.
